Japan started trading with Portuguese when they set up trading post in Macau in the middle of the 16th century. At this time, namban lacquers came to Europe. Arita wares in Imari style, in Blue-and-White, in Kakiemon style came into Europe one century later. Sawasa objects also pleased to sophisticated european collectors. During the Meiji Era Japan reopened trading with Western countries , Satsuma, Shibayama, bronze arrived in Europe. That was the time when the European aesthetics was influenced by the Japanese arts.

Kraak porcelain was the first Chinese porcelain brougt to Europe in great number.

Compagnie des indes

paper panels were made in China, from the 17th century to 19th century, according to the European requests following European forms, designs and taste.
The East India Companies were in charge of trading and shipping them. Dutch was represented by the “V.O.C” from 1602. England was represented from 1708 by the East Indian Compagny. From 1719 to 1770 the French traded by “la Compagnie des Indes”. The Danish East India Compagny was born in 1732, the Swedish one was working intensively from 1731 to 1813. After the Independance War, the American arrived in China ; from 1790’s to the middle of the 19th centuy, their trade went on increasing.
Brazil, prosperous, made large commands.
